Gold, cigarette recovered at Shahjalal

Customs officials at Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) International Airport recovered 1.4 kilograms of gold and foreign made cigarettes and arrested one person on Saturday, police said. The arrestee is Elman Hossain, 33, from Comilla, came from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia by a Malaysian Airlines flight. ‘Tipped off, a team of customs intelligence arrested him at about 12.10am and recovered 9 gold bars, weighing about 1.4kg, hidden inside his underwear,’ Moinul Haque, director general of airport customs intelligence, said. Meanwhile, another team of customs intelligence recovered two hundred cartons of foreign-made cigarettes in abandoned condition beside the 4th belt in the arrival area at the airport at 9:00am, according to BSS.
