Gold, cigarette worth Tk 31m seized at HSIA

The officials of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate seized gold and cigarette worth Tk 31.0 million in two separate incidents at Hazrat Shahjala International Airport (HSIA) Tuesday, says a press release.
The customs intelligence personnel recovered 40 gold bars weighing 4.6 kilograms at 11.00 am from a commode near belt number 6. Acting on a tip off that a gang of smugglers was importing the valuables illegally from the United Arab Emirates, they recovered the gold bars valued at around Tk 21 million.
In another incident the officials recovered illegally imported 5,300 cartons of cigarette worth Tk 10 million from an Etihad Airways flight.
