Gold edges down

Local jewellers have lowered gold prices to align domestic prices with those of the international market, effective from today (Monday).
As per new rates, the price of a gram of 22-carat gold has been fixed at Tk 4,370, down from Tk 4,480, according to a statement issued by the Bangladesh Jewellers' Samity (BJS) on Sunday.
One gram of 21-carat gold will now cost Tk 4175, down from Tk 4,280, while the price of one gram of 18-carat gold has been lowered to Tk 3,740 from Tk 3,830.
Also, the price of one gram of traditional gold (sanatani) has been reduced to Tk 2,265 from Tk 2,350.
Silver prices, however, will remain unchanged at Tk 90 per gram.
According to the traditional system, the price of one Bhori (11.664 grams) of 22-carat gold will be TK 50,982, down from Tk 52,224, said BJS secretary Dilip Kumar Agarawala.
According to BJS, the gold prices were last revised upwards on January 26.
