Gold falls further

Monday, 15 September 2014

Gold and silver prices have dropped in Bangladesh for the second time in three weeks, in line with the international market rates.
According to a press release issued Monday, Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BJA) cut down price of per bhori (11.664 grams) 22-carat gold by Tk 1,458 to Tk 45,723.
Price of a bhori of 21-carat gold has been fixed at Tk 43,623 against Tk 45,046, and 18-carat at Tk 36,975 against Tk 38,456.
The release added that price of per bhori 21-carat silver (cadmium) has been reduced to Tk 1,108 from Tk 1,166.
The new prices would be effective from Tuesday.
BJA General Secretary Enamul Haq Khan told bdnews24.com that prices of the precious metals had been reduced in line with the international market prices.
He said per ounce gold prices dropped by $25 last week in the international market.
Jewellers expect the price adjustment would encourage people to buy gold in the present ‘dull market’. Gold prices were dropped earlier on Aug 25.
