Gold haul at Jhenidah

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) have arrested a man while he was trying to cross into India through Maheshkhali border of Jhenidah district. Twenty-four gold bars, 100 grams each, were said to be found on him. He had hidden the bars in his shoes. Rab-6 Jhenidah camp commander Squadron Leader Niaz Mohammad Faisal said the market value of the seized gold was around Tk 10 million. The arrestee has been identified as Sarowar Hossain, 28, a suspected gold smuggler and local inhabitant. Faisal said Hossain was carrying the gold from Dhaka’s Aminbazar to India when he was intercepted, according to bdnews24.com.
