FE REPORT | Friday, 19 June 2026

The price of 22-carat gold jewellery in the country has dropped by Tk 9,013 per bhori (11.664 grams), bringing the new VAT-inclusive rate to Tk 232,930.
Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring Chairman Dewan Aminul Islam Shahin disclosed the new price chart in a statement on Thursday.
The BAJUS has taken the decision following the introduction of a revised pricing system.
In the revised pricing system, VAT has been incorporated into the announced prices of gold, replacing the previous practice of adding VAT separately at the point of sale.
Under the latest revised rates, the price of 21-carat gold has been fixed at Tk 222,491 per bhori, down by Tk 8,491, while 18-carat gold will now be sold at Tk 191,056 per bhori after a reduction of Tk 6,920.
The price of gold produced under the traditional method has been lowered by Tk 5,170 to Tk 156,064 per bhori.
Earlier, the VAT-inclusive retail price of 22-carat gold stood at Tk 241,943 per bhori.
With the latest adjustment, consumers will pay Tk 9,013 less per bhori for the precious metal.
BAJUS, however, kept the existing pricing system unchanged for silver jewellery.
It said that buyers will continue to pay 5 percent VAT on the listed silver prices.
Under the latest rates, the price of 22-carat silver has been fixed at Tk 5,365 per bhori, while 21-carat, 18-carat and traditional silver have been priced at Tk 5,132, Tk 4,432 and Tk 3,324 per bhori respectively.
