Gold prices decline further

Jewellers reduced the price of gold by Tk 1,167 to Tk 97,044 per bhori on Wednesday, three days after the last price adjustment of pure gold.
The price of 22-carat gold will now be Tk 8,320 per gram or Tk 97,044 per bhori (11.664 grams), according to a press release issued by Bangladesh Jewellers' Association (BJA) on the day.
The latest pricing comes into effect today (Thursday).
Earlier on October 1, the price of the yellow metal was revised down to Tk 8,420 per gram or Tk 98,211 per bhori.
On September 28, the price of gold was adjusted downwards to Tk 8,570 per gram or Tk 99,960 per bhori.
Under the latest pricing, 21-carat gold will be sold at Tk 7,940 per gram, 18-carat gold at Tk 6,810 and traditional gold at Tk 5,670 per gram.
The price of silver remained static at its previous rate.
Meanwhile, 22-carat, 21-carat and 18-carat silver costs Tk 147, Tk 140 and Tk 120 per gram respectively.
Every gram of the traditional or Sanatan white metal costs Tk 90.
The BJA requested all jewellery traders to deal with the pricey metals abiding by the defined price chart.
On August 25, per bhori gold price went as high as Tk 1, 01,244.
