Gold prices slashed by Tk 1,259 per bhori

The price of top-quality 22-carat gold has been reduced by Tk 1,259 per bhori (11.664g) on the local market.
BAJUS said a 5 percent VAT and a minimum 6 percent wage have to be added to the jewellery.
This means each carat of top-quality gold will now cost Tk 137,449, the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) said a statement on Saturday.
The new prices will be effective from Sunday (Sept 29). It will remain in effect until further notice.
Meanwhile, each bhori of 21-carat gold will cost Tk 131,197, while 18-carat gold's price now stands at Tk 112,453.
The traditional gold price has been set at Tk 92,286.
BAJUS said a 5 percent VAT and a minimum 6 percent wage have to be added to the jewellery.
BAJUS has revised gold prices 42 times so far this year. Last year, it adjusted the prices 29 times.
