Gold seized at Shahjalal Airport

Customs intelligence officials arrested two people with 860 grams of gold from green channel of Hazrat Shahjalal (R) International Airport on Thursday. The Customs officials identified the detainees as Omar Faruk, and Alal Uddin, 37. Al Amin of Hazrat, Assistant Commissioner of Customs at Shahjalal (R) International Airport said Faruk returned home from Malaysia by a flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines (BG-087) around 9:00am. Being tipped off, customs officers searched his luggage and seized 400-gram gold from his possession. On the other hand, Alal arrived in the airport from Malaysia by a flight of Malaysia Airlines around 7:30am. Noticing his suspicious movement at green channel, customs officers searched him and seized 460-gram gold hidden into buckles of his belt. Legal action is being taken against both, he added, according to a news agency.
