Gold trader stabbed to death

LAXMIPUR, Nov 09 (bdnews24.com): The miscreants on a motorcycle have stabbed a gold trader to death while he was heading home on a bicycle in Laxmipur.
The incident occurred in the Tetul Gach Tala area of ward No. 9 of north Hamshadi Union of Sadar Upazila around 8:30pm on Friday, Additional Superintendent of Police Hasan Mostofa Swapan said.
The deceased, 55-year-old Hira Lal Debnath, was the proprietor of Matri Jewellers in the Kazir Dighir Par area.
The victim's son, Pritam Debnath, said, "My father was returning home on his bicycle after closing the shop at night. I was on the motorcycle ahead of my father. Three men on a motorcycle sped past and stood on the roadside near our house.
"I drove home thinking it was a usual matter. My father was driving behind me. At one point, one of the perpetrators stopped my father's bicycle and stabbed him. The criminals later fled the scene."
He was rushed to Lakshmipur Sadar Hospital where a doctor declared him dead, Pritam added.
Kamla Sheesh Roy, a doctor at the hospital, said: "Hira died before he was brought to the hospital.
