Gold worth Tk 2.1m seized at Shah Amanat

Customs Intelligence officials seized gold worth Tk 2.1 million at Hazrat Shah Amanat (RA) International Airport in Chittagong and detained a man in this connection on Sunday. The arrestee was identified as Nurul Azim, 30, a resident of Raozan Upazila of Chittagong district. Shahdat Jamil, assistant commissioner of airport customs, said a flight of Air Arabia from Sharjah landed at the airport around 9:30am. Customs Intelligence men, while scanning the baggage of Nurul Azim, recovered five gold bars weighing over 600 grams from his suitcase. The market value of the gold is Tk 2.1m, the Customs official said, according to private TV channels.
