Gold worth Tk 700m recovered at Shahjalal

Customs Intelligence officials recovered 15 kilograms of gold from a lavatory at Hazrat Shahjalal (R) International Airport in Kurmitola in Dhaka early Saturday. However, none was arrested in this connection. Assistant Commissioner of Customs Intelligence, Umme Nahida Akhtar, informed that the gold weighing 15 kg were found abandoned in a ladies’ toilet at the country’s main airport. ‘We are trying to find those responsible,’ she said. The haul included a 12 kg gold bar and gold-made chains weighing up to 3 kg, she said. The current market value of the seized precious metal would be approximately Tk 700 million, she added, according to private TV channel.
