Bangladesh Golf team Friday expressed firm determination to win both the gold medals of the individual and team events in the 11th SA Games to be held in Dhaka from January 29 to February 9, reports UNB.
The confidence was drawn from performance of the last four years as the Golf team had a clean sweep in all events held during that period in the Kurmitola Golf Course, the venue of the SA Games Golf.
Bangladesh Golf Federa-tion General Secretary Brig Gen (retd) Shafiquzzaman voiced his confidence of winning the two gold medals.
He said, "We've been practising hard for the ultimate success, and the team won titles in India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. We've provided all the training facilities including a top class gymnasium for the golfers who are ready to win the Gold medals."
Team manager Major (rtd) Anis-ul-Islam gave a clear cut analysis of the aspirations. "John James Little, the Scottish coach, trained the golfers and the way the golfers improved, we've every hope of clinching the golds. The golfers have played 27 holes per day instead of the normal 18 for the perfection, the golfers have won titles in India and Nepal, so why not at the home ground?" he said.
Seven of the eight countries, except Maldives, will take part in the biggest South Asian extravaganza.
Bangladesh Golf team: Jamal Hossain Mollah, Shakhawat Hossain Sohel, Dulal Hossain and Zakir Hossain.
Officials: Babu Ahmed (team coach) and Major (rtd) Anisul Islam (team manager).
