Gono Forum demands indoor politics across country

Thursday, 11 October 2007

Gono Forum demanded of the caretaker government Wednesday to allow indoor politics across the country and alerted all about any evil design to spoil the national unity, reports UNB.
The party of Dr Kamal Hossain also demanded of the government to take initiative to control the price of essentials ahead of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr.
Gono Forum's demand came in a resolution of its presidium meeting at party's central office with Kamal Hossain in the chair.
The meeting decided that the party would join the Election Commission (EC)-sponsored dialogue on reform issues, but the party wanted to evaluate its considerations with all.
"We will exchange views about our proposals in our party's extend meeting and with like-minded parties, civil society, professionals and women organisations," stated the resolution.
The party further asked the government to take proper steps to improve the country's economic condition. "All should be alert to continue the economic stability of the country."
The resolution stressed the need for meaningful unity in the national life. "We were in the 14-party combine and now we have to evaluate the effective achievements and failures of the 14-party combine," it mentioned.
The meeting urged the government to ensure supply of electricity and fertiliser for next 'boro' season.
It also demanded proper steps for the Monga-and flood-affected districts to avert an imminent penury like Monga.
"All of the countrymen are united for honest politics and, we think, conspiracy might be hatched to destroy the people's unity," the party resolution said and urged the people to be aware of any "evil design".
Among others, party leaders Saifuddin Ahmed Manik, Advocate Jahirul Islam, Pankaj Bhattacharjee, Mohammad Shamsuddoha, Commander Abdur Rauf, Abdur Rahuf, Mafijul Islam Khan Kamal, Engineer Abul Kasem, Advocate Subrato Chowdhury, Mostofa Mohsin Mantu and Advocate M Altaf Hossain were present at the meeting.
