Good liquoring varieties dearer
Thursday, 12 June 2014
All the good liquoring varieties witnessed good response from buyers and were mostly dearer as there was a competition in the weekly tea market in Chittagong Tuesday, said a press release.
Blenders continued to give fairly good support with Loose tea buyers remaining quite selective. Plainer teas continued to be neglected and suffered heavy withdrawals.
CTC LEAF: 21,577 packages and 1,074 packages of old season teas on offer met with a fair demand.
BROKENS: Good liquoring smaller Brokens saw a good demand and were mostly firm to slightly dearer and these were sold between Tk 192 and Tk 197 but the corresponding BOPs were mostly an easier market. Others were also easier, particularly the plainer sorts, which again witnessed heavy withdrawals.
FANNINGS: Good liquoring Fannings saw an improved demand and were firm to slightly dearer and these were sold between Tk 185 and Tk 195. Medium varieties saw an easier market. Plainer sorts eased further with heavy withdrawals.
CTC DUST: 4,674 packages and 292 packages of old season teas on offer met with a fairly good demand at easier rates. Few lines of best liquoring RDs were firm to slightly dearer following a competition whilst its corresponding RDs were slightly lower by up to Tk 5.0 and these sold between Tk 210 and Tk 215. Good liquoring CDs were also lower and sold between Tk 250 and Tk 295. All others were a lower market easing by up to Tk 5.0. Blenders lent good support with fair interest from the Loose tea buyers.
