Goods worth Tk 250m burnt to ashes in Pabna fire

Four warehouses were completely burned in a fire that erupted at a jute mill in Bera Upazila in Pabna district early Wednesday. Witnesses said the fire broke out after an oil tank (fuel oil reservoir) exploded around 12:16am at ‘Bengal Jute Mills’ at Odhirnagar in Bera Upazila. Soon the fire engulfed four warehouses burning to ashes goods worth millions of taka. Being infmored, half a dozen firefighting units from Bera and Sadar Upazilas of Pabna and Ullahpara and Shahjadpur Upazilas of Sirajganj district rushed in and doused the blaze after three hours of hectic efforts. The affected mill owner claimed that the extent of losses from the fire was assessed at Tk 250 million, according to a news agency.
