Goods worth Tk 6m gutted by fire at Netrokona market

A fire broke out at a market at Netrokona Sadar Upazila on Sunday morning, fire service officials said. The fire completely gutted at least 10 shops and damaging some other shops. Goods worth around Tk 6 million were destroyed in the fire at ‘Challisha Market’, said Netrokona fire service’s Station Leader Abdul Barek. However, no casualty was reported. Barek said they put out the fire around 5am after a two-hour-long frantic efforts. The incident came as a huge blow to the businessmen two weeks before the Holy Eid-ul-Fitr, the biggest religious festival of the Muslims. The fire service officer said an electric short-circuit at a shop triggered the fire, according to a news agency.
