Gopalganj farmers poised for a bumper production of T-Aman

GOPALGANJ, Nov 15: Harvesting of transplanted T-Aman paddy, a high valued crop, is in progress in the district during the current season.
According to Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE), Gopalganj, a total of 8,220 hectares of land have been brought under T-Aman cultivation programme with a production target of 21,617 metric tonnes (MT) in the district.
Upazilawise break-up of the land brought under T-Aman cultivation is 2,515 hectares in Gopalganj Sadar Upazila with a production target of 6,614 MT, in Muksudpur Upazila 2,870 hectares with production target of 7,548 MT, in Kashiani Upazila 1,215 hectares with production target of 3,195 MT, in Kotalipara Upazila 315 hectares with production target of815 MT and in Tungipara Upazila 1,310 hectares of land have been brought under T-Aman cultivation with production target of 3,445 metric tonnes (MT) in the district during the current season.
Abu Talib Mollah (50) an ideal farmer of villageĀ Golabaria under Durgapur union of Gopalganj Sadar Upazila said, ''All the farmers are expecting a bumper production of Aman paddy this year due to favourable weather conditions and availability agro inputs at fair prices.
Atul Krishna Mollik, Deputy Director (DD), Agriculture, Gopalganj said, favourable condition, proper distribution of high quality seeds by Bangladesh Agriculture Development Corporation (BADC), timely supply of fetilisers and supply of agro inputs to the growers are the reasons for getting desired production of the crop.
