Gopalganj, Noakhali road accidents kill five

A total of five persons were killed in separate road accidents in Gopalganj and Noakhali districts on Saturday and Friday night, report agencies.
BSS reports from Gopalganj, two youths were killed in a collision between a microbus and their motorcycle in Kashiani Upazila of the district this morning.
The deceased were identified as Abdur Rahim Masud, 20, and his friend Atikul Islam, 21, hailed from Khalishpur in Khulna. Masud was a student of Daffodil International University. They were heading towards Khulna riding the motorcycle.
Police said, "The accident occurred at around 9:30 am near Majra bus stand on the Dhaka-Khulna highway of the upazila. Abdur Rahim Masud died on the spot while Atikul Islam was declared dead at Kashiani Upazila Health Complex".
Bodies were handed over to Bhanga Highway Thana police, said Sub Inspector of Kashiani Thana Shojib Kumar Mandol.
UNB from Noakhali says, three people were killed as a power tiller plunged into a ditch in North Bejugalia area of Hatiya upazila in Noakhali on Friday afternoon.
The deceased were identified as Md Rubel, 25, son of Mohammad Abdul Quddus' of Ward 7 of Tamaruddin Union, Belal Hossain, 26, son of Abdul Malek and Abdul Mannan's son Md. Delwar Hossain of the same ward.
Confirming the matter, officer-in-charge (OC) of Hatiya Police Station Amir Hossain said, "The power tiller fell into a roadside ditch in Bejugalia area around 4pm, leaving its driver and his two assistants critically injured".
Later, the trio was taken to Hatiya Upazila Health Complex where doctors declared them dead on arrival.
The ill-fated power tiller has been taken into custody.
The bodies have been handed over to their respective families after legal procedures, added the OC.
