Gopalganj poised for a bumper production of T-Aman paddy

GOPALGANJ, Dec 5: Harvesting of transplanted T-Aman paddy, a high-yield crop is progressing fast in the district during the current season.
According to Agriculture Extension Department (DAE), Gopalganj, a total of 18,908 hectares of land have been brought under T-Aman cultivation programme where production target is 36869 metric tonnes (MT) in the district this year.
Alamin Jumader (48) an ideal farmer of village-Ramchandonpur under Kushli Union of Tungipara Upazila in Gopalganj district said, "All the farmers are expecting a bumper production of Aman paddy this year due to a favourable weather conditions and availability of agro inputs at fair prices.
The newly harvested paddy has already come to the market and has contributed much to lowering the market price of paddy and rice, local farmers said.
Romesh Chandra Brommo, crop production specialist of DAE, Gopalganj said, favourable condition, proper distribution of high quality seeds by Bangladesh Agriculture Development Corporation (BADC)  and timely supply of fertilisers and others agro inputs to the growers are the reasons for a bumper production of the crop.
