Gopibagh murder case \\\'put on backburner\\\'

Saturday, 31 January 2015

The sensational Gopibagh six-murder case still remains on the backburner as the designated investigation officer (IO) has failed to arrest no one of the perpetrators during the last one year in connection with the gruesome killings, reports UNB.
Six people, including a locally known religious leader Lutfar Rahman Faruq, 60, his banker son Sanwar Islam alias Monir, 30, were slaughtered by miscreants on RK Mission Road, Gopibagh in the capital on December 21, 2013 over a religious conflict. The other victims were Mujibur Rahman, 30, Russell, 25, Shahin, 25, and Manju, 30, the followers of Lutfar.
Abdullah Al Faruk, another son of slain Lutfar, filed a case with Wari Police Station the following day, accusing 11 unidentified people of committing the dreadful murders.
Meanwhile, a source who regularly maintains contact with the victims' family, said the remaining family members have been passing their days in anxiety.
