GOP's Rashed Khan joins BNP

Sunday, 28 December 2025

Rashed Khan, general secretary of Gono Odhikar Parishad (GOP), has left the party and officially joined the BNP, report agencies.
He joined the BNP by presenting a bouquet to party Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir at the chairperson's Gulshan office in the capital on Saturday.
Rashed has secured the BNP nomination for the Jhenaidah-4 seat in the upcoming 13th national election, scheduled for February 12.
Fakhrul said, "Rashed Khan is joining the BNP. I offer my congratulations.
"The BNP has decided to nominate Rashed Khan to contest the election with the 'sheaf of paddy' symbol for the Jhenaidah-4 seat, which comprises Jhenaidah Sadar and Kaliganj."
He said, "I urge all Jhenaidah-4 BNP activists to work with Rashed Khan and to provide their full strength to ensure his victory."
Rashed said, "Journalists are aware of the role played by myself and Nurul Haque Nur, starting from the quota reform movement to the July Uprising. I do not wish to say much regarding that. "The BNP is struggling for the establishment of the rights of the masses. Tarique Rahman is currently leading the BNP; he treats me with great affection and love. My relationship with him stems from the anti-autocratic movement."
"I believe his leadership is vital for the country and the people in building a new Bangladesh. I trust that he will play a significant role in terms of reform, justice, and a fair election," he added.
