Government to focus its attention on issues of public concern

Saturday, 6 June 2009

THE grand alliance-backed Awami League (AL) government has been wasting time on some unnecessary or less important issues from the very beginning of its stepping into power. Some of the issues what they have treated serious are less important than those that been kept untouched so far. Power crisis, unemployment problem, decreasing trend about foreign direct investment (FDI), manpower export etc., should have been the issues receiving priority in the development list of the government.
On the other hand, the government has taken some important issues for which it deserves appreciation. The package introduced for facing global economic meltdown, initiative to help boost the rural economy, the visit of the Prime Minister to the Middle East, initiation of efforts for public-private partnership (PPP), reduction of lending rates etc., are the issues that the government should continue in the greater interest of the country. We hope the government will uphold the spirit of our War of Liberation for which millions of people had sacrificed their lives.
Side by side, the government should acknowledge the good works of the previous government in various sectors like eradication of illegal practice in the public examination, formation of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) etc., so that the good activities of the present government are recognised in the future.
