Governor for exchanging views with economic reporters on BB goals

Bangladesh Bank Governor Dr Atiur Rahman stressed Monday on exchanging views with economic reporters on goals and activities of the central bank in a bid to convey those to the mass people.
He also requested to include the training of economic reporters in the annual programme of the BB training academy.
The BB governor was speaking in the inaugural session of a two-day workshop jointly arranged by the BB and the Economic Reporters' Forum (ERF) in the BB conference room in the city.
Such a training programme will immensely benefit the economic reporters and help them make their contribution towards enhancing the economic literacy of the mass people, he said.
The BB has received allout cooperation from journalists in presenting its monetary policy and various other programmes, he acknowledged.
There are a number of complex rules in the BB, he said requesting the reporters to contact BB senior officials before publishing any news on major policy matters of the central bank.
He assured the BB officials would provide allout cooperation to the economic reporters and help them come to term with the BB strategies and diversified goals concerning the mass people.
A total of 45 economic reporters attended the inaugural session of the two-day workshop. Senior and former high officials of the BB also spoke on the occasion.
