Sunday, 3 October 2010

State Minister for Power and Energy Mohammad Enamul Haque Saturday said the government has fixed a target to generate 10 per cent of total electricity from renewable energy by 2020, reports UNB.
"Use of renewable energy would have to be increased for the sake of sustainable development," he said, inaugurating an international short course on solar PV system at the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET).
BUET's Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department organised the course in association with University of Flensburg of Germany and German donor agency Gtz.
The state minister said the government has been working to increase electricity production by utilising all possible sources. He urged the researchers to find out more ways to utilise the potential of all renewable energies.
Chaired by BUET Vice-Chancellor Prof M Nazrul Islam, the function was addressed by Pro-VC Habibur Rahman, Head of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department Prof Saifur Rahman, and Gtz coordinator Erich Otto Gomm.
