Govt allocates Tk 1034200 for NGOs in B'baria

BRAHMANBARIA, Aug 20: National Social Welfare Parishad organised as function for distribution of cheques for the grant money of 2006-2007 financial year for the non-government organisations (NGOs), registered with the Social Welfare Department(SWD). The grant money distribution function was held at Zila Parishad Auditorium, Brahmanbaria Monday.
Deputy Commissioner(DC) of Brahmanbaria district, Md. Abdul Hai was the chief guest at the function and Deputy director(DD) of SWD, Brahmanbaria, Begum Samsunnahar presided and gave the welcome address.
The Government has allocated a total of TK 1034200 for 108 organisations for carrying on with their social welfare activities.
The department has disbursed Tk 5,95,200 among eighty-nine organisations for general activities, Tk 2,56,000 among sixteen organisations for income generating activities, Tk 70,000 to one organisation for urban community development activities, Tk 1,00,000 to one organisation for Patient welfare activities and Tk 13,000 for crime correction and rehabilitation.
