Govt allows Sheikh Selim to see deceased mother

The government has decided to release Awami League Presidium Member Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim on parole, allowing him to see his deceased mother. His mother, Achhiya Khatun (90), the elder sister of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, died of old-age complications Thursday at ZH Sikder Medical College Hospital in the city's Gulshan area. "The government has decided to release him on parole from jail, letting him see his mother," Home Secretary Abdul Karim said.
