Govt appoints 4 directors for BB

The government Thursday appointed four new directors to the Bangladesh Bank (BB), the country's central bank, for three years term, officials said.
The Ministry of Finance issued four separate orders in this connection with the approval of the President and sent the copy of the orders to BB Governor Atiur Rahman, which will take effect immediately.
The newly appointed directors are Director General of the Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies (BIDS) Mustafa Kamal Mujeri, Professor of Economics Department of the Rajshahi University Sanat Kumar Saha, former director of the World Bank Sadiq Ahmed and former principal of the Eden Girls' College Hanana Begum.
The central bank is run by a nine-member Board of Directors, headed by the Governor, which includes members from professional bodies, academics and representatives from the Finance Division, Internal Resources Division (IRD) and Economic Relations Division (ERD) of the Finance Ministry.
