Tuesday, 12 June 2007

The government Monday approved the import of 75,000 tonnes of fertilisers by the state-run Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC), as there have been reports of shortage of the farming input in different parts of the country, reports UNB.
Officials said the council of advisers' committee on Public Purchase in its meeting at the cabinet division also approved the procurement of one-crore jute bags, each costing Tk 48.05, for the Ministry of Food to support its food procurement.
These bags will be purchased from Bangladesh Jute Mills Corporation (BJMC).
Finance Adviser Mirza Azizul Islam, who chaired the meeting, briefed reporters on the meeting's decisions.
The purchase committee also approved the appointment of an Australian consulting firm, Aus Health, as the lowest bidder, for establishing a programme support office (PSO) under government's health, nutrition and population sector programme (HNPSP) assisted by the World Bank (WB).
