Govt asked to set up food courts in districts

The High Court (HC) Monday asked the government to set up food courts in a year at district level providing with necessary inspectors and analysts to ensure safety, purity and proper nutrition values of foods. Delivering the judgement upon a public interest litigation (PIL) writ petition, an HC bench of Justice ABM Khairul Haque and Justice M Momtazuddin Ahmed also asked the government to submit an official report before it on July 1, 2010 about the steps taken in compliance with its directives.—UNB
