Sunday, 8 May 2011
BNP standing committee member Barrister Moudud Ahmed has blamed a 'government-backed syndicate responsible' for the price hike of essential commodities, reports bdnews24.com.
Barrister Moudud made the allegation while speaking at a human chain programme organised by BNP-backed Peshajibi Parishad in front of the National Press Club in the city Saturday.
"The government's failure is behind the present state of commodity price hike and deterioration of law and order and human rights situation," he said.
Without specifying the syndicate members, he urged the people to create resistance against them to come out of the situation.
Moudud criticised the killing of Bangladeshi girl Felani by the Border Security Force (BSF) of India.
He said: "The government has made the frontier insecure by 'destroying' Bangladesh Rifles."
He also alleged that the judiciary could not work independently.
A number of key figures of the party and professionals also addressed the programme.
