Govt bans cutting, razing of hills, hillocks

The government has banned cutting and razing hills and hillocks owned by government, semi-government, autonomous institutions and individuals. The order was issued through a gazette notification on July 10 to protect environment and check environmental pollution. However, the notification said, in case of unavoidable circumstances, hills and hillocks could be cut or razed with clearance from the Environment Directorate. —UNB
