Monday, 18 May 2009

FE Report
The government borrowed Tk 8.25 billion (825 crore) Sunday through auctions of treasury bills. It will result in withdrawal of Tk 8.25 billion from the market in the week.
The central bank conducted auctions of 91-day and 364-day bills on the day.
Bidders offered bids for Tk 5.788 billion and Tk 3.6195 billion against 91-day and 364-day bills respectively.
The central bank, however, accepted Tk 700 million and Tk 300 million against respectively 91-day and 364-day bills.
Besides, Tk 7.25 billion, including Tk 4.80 billion against 91-day bills and Tk 3.6195 against 364-day bills, were devolved to Bangladesh Bank.
The rates of the implicit yield against the accepted bills were 3.92-3.98 per cent and 6.00-6.20 per cent per cent per annum respectively.
The net outflow of cash from the market is expected to increase pressure on liquidity, the fund managers said.
