Govt borrows Tk 9.0 billion thru' treasury bills

The government borrowed Tk 9.00 billion (900 crore) Sunday through auctions of treasury bills. It will result in withdrawal of Tk 9.00 billion from the market in the week.
The central bank conducted auctions of 28-day, 91-day and 364-day bills on the day.
Bidders offered Tk 5.60 billion, Tk 2.979 billion and Tk 1.512 billion against 28-day, 91-day and 364-day bills respectively.
The central bank, however, accepted Tk 1.80 billion and Tk 779 million against the 28-day and 91-day bills respectively.
Besides, Tk 3.20 billion and Tk 1.721 billion million were devolved to Primary Dealers for 28-day and 91-day bills respectively. In addition Tk 1.50 billion were devolved to Bangladesh Bank for 364-day bills.
The ranges of the implicit yields against the accepted bills respectively were 7.33-7.35 per cent, 7.63-7.64 per cent and 8.45 per cent per annum.
The net outflow of cash from the market is expected to increase pressure on liquidity, the fund managers said.
