The government borrowed Tk 9.00 billion (900 crore) Thursday through auctions of treasury bills. It will result in withdrawal of Tk 8.15 billion from the market in the week.
The central bank conducted auctions of 28-day, 91-day, 182-day and 364-day bills on the day.
Bidders offered Tk 9.91 billion, Tk 2.01 billion, Tk 1.03 billion and Tk 1.18 billion against 28-day, 91-day, 182-day and 364-day bills respectively.
The central bank, however, accepted Tk 5.00 billion and Tk 150 million against the 28-day and 364-day bills respectively.
Besides, Tk 2.00 billion and Tk 1.00 billion were devolved to Bangladesh Bank for respectively 91-day and 182-day bills and Tk 850 million were devolved to Primary Dealers for 364-day bills.
The ranges of the implicit yields against the accepted bills respectively were 7.29-7.33 per cent, 7.62 per cent and 8.48 per cent per annum.
The net outflow of cash from the market is expected to increase pressure on liquidity, the fund managers said.
