Govt-buyers body visit 7,946 RMG units: Chunnu

State Minister for Labour and Employment Mojibul Haque Chunnu has said that government-buyers committee so far visited 7,946 readymade garment (RMG) units across the country and submitted recommendations for necessary steps. The government has also taken initiative to implement the recommendations,’ the junior minister said while addressing a programme in the city on Wednesday. ‘Recommendations have been submitted by the government-buyers committee after visiting 1,112 RMG factories out of 7,946 for implementation necessary steps to ensure safety,’ he said. ‘The government's role is not enough to ensure fire and electricity safety in the factory. It requires whole hearted support of workers organisations for ensuring safety,’ he said, adding that the government has already appointed 88 factory inspectors and more inspectors will be recruited soon, according to a news agency.
