Saturday, 19 July 2014

BNP spokesman Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir alleged Friday that the government was carrying out 'mass killing' by using law enforcers and its party 'cadres,' reports UNB.
In a statement, Mirza Fakhrul said, "The government which grabbed power by force through the January-5 farcical election has now got desperate and impatient as the whole nation is vocal against it. They're now carrying out genocide by using law enforcers like their party cadres."
Mirza Fakhrul, also the BNP acting secretary general, said Satkhira's Tala Upazila unit BNP leader SM Biplob has been tortured to death by police and ruling party men.
He said police picked up Biplob and shot him in the name of a gunfight before killing him through torture.
Protesting the killing, the BNP leader said Awami League (AL) can brutally kill people as killing and spreading lies are the habit of the party.
He demanded arrest of the Biplob's killers and exemplary punishment to them.
An earlier report says: BNP alleged Friday that the government has now engaged members of the police in killing and making opposition leaders and activists disappeared as elite force RAB have already lost its image by doing so for a long time, reports UNB.
"Now police have been given the charge for killing and making opposition leaders and activists disappeared as RAB have become controversial by playing the same role. Cops are now killing innocent people by staging the dramas of gunfight," said BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.
He brought the allegation at a press briefing at the BNP's Nayapaltan central office following the killing of Satkhira's Tala upazila unit BNP joint general secretary SM Biplob.
Rizvi claimed that police tried to kill Biplob by opening firing on him in the name of a gunfight after picking him up from his residence on Thursday night. Later, the local ruling party cadres tortured him to ensure his death.
The BNP leader strongly protested and condemned the killing and said the government is responsible for the murder.
"The government has taken a move to annihilate BNP by law enforcers.  Police are sincerely carrying out their assignment to obliterate BNP," Rizvi alleged.
He said the current illegal government has established a one-party rule with the help of law enforcers after grabbing power through a 'voter-less' election on January 5.
"The people have got fed up with the misrule of this illegal, killer and repressive government. They don't want to see it in office anymore. We'll ensure the fall of this regime through a strong movement after Eid," Rizvi added.
He also alleged that the ruling party cadres are collecting huge amount of toll from businessman ahead of the Eid.
