Govt destroyed Liberation War spirit: BNP

Terming the government an ‘illegal’ one, BNP has said that the regime has destroyed the Liberation War spirit by snatching away people’s rights. BNP acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir came up with the remarks while talking to reporters after attending a programme held in the city marking the Victory Day. Mirza Alamgir said the country’s future has been put at stake through misrule by the Awami League-led regime. ‘The nation is so unfortunate that there’s no democracy in the country even after 44 years of its independence. The government through its repressive acts including killings and enforced disappearances, have snatched people’s rights,’ the BNP spokesman alleged. He said a fair and inclusive election under a non-party and neutral administration can help resolve the current crisis, according to a news agency.
