Govt distributes over Tk10m allowances in Pirganj

PIRGANJ, July 13 (BSS): The government distributed Tk 1,05,84,000 as various allowances among 1,215 beneficiaries in Pirganj upazila here during the last fiscal (2014-15).
The Department of Social Service (DSS) distributed the allowances among physically challenged people and freedom fighters in 15 unions of the upazila.
Upazila officer of DSS Joinal Abedin said the department distributed Tk 6.92 million (Tk 69.24 lakh) among 1,154 physically challenged people at the rate of Tk 500 per month in the upazila.
Besides, Tk 3.66 million was distributed among 61 freedom fighters (FFs) with Tk 5,000 as monthly allowance during the fiscal year to assist them leading a better life, the officer added.
