Govt encourages freedom of speech: President

President Zillur Rahman emphasised on increasing training opportunities for country's journalists at home and abroad so that they could write quality reports to protect the interests of the common people, reports UNB.
The President made the remark when a four-member Press Freedom Mission of Vienna-based International Press Institute (IPI) called on him at Bangabhaban Thursday.
The IPI Director David Dadge led the delegation.
During the meeting, The President said that Bangladesh is a democratic country where the government always encourages freedom of speech and media. "Mass media in Bangladesh are also enjoying full freedom," he said.
The President said that the present government would not allow any harassment of journalists in the country.
