Govt eyes $5b earning thru\\\' software, IT exports: PM

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said her government envisaged boosting annual export earning to US $ 5 billion from software and IT service sector. To achieve the target, she said, the private and public sector should work together. The Prime Minister said this while inaugurating the 4-day Digital World-2014, a mega exposition of IT innovations and services, at Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) on Wednesday. Keeping her utmost trust on youths, Sheikh Hasina said young generation enlightened with computer and technological education and knowledge will take forward Bangladesh towards prosperity. The premier announced that the government has taken steps for connecting Bangladesh with second submarine cable for uninterrupted and reliable internet connectivity of the country. Every school will have multimedia class room and computer lab and IT park will be set up in every divisional headquarters to boost up new generation with the IT knowledge, she said. The PM inaugurated the four-day event through giving her digital signature, according to a news agency.
