Govt fails to ensure people’s security: CPB
Tuesday, 10 June 2014
Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) and Socialist Party of Bangladesh (SPB) observed Monday that the government has failed to ensure security and wellbeing of the people of the country, reports UNB.
The two parties made the observations while speaking at a meeting at Mukti Bhaban in the city.
They declared a joint countrywide protest on June 17 to be followed by a rally in front of the National Press Club on June 21, in a bid to ignite a mass movement with demands to ensure people's security and wellbeing.
CPB president Mujahidul Islam Selim said that normal life and normal death of the people should be ensured.
CPB general secretary Syed Abu Zafar Ahmad said the growing rate of disappearances, murders, abductions and extrajudicial killings in recent times has created a sense of insecurity in public life.
Besides, the people of the country are going through hard times due to price-rise of essentials ahead of Ramadan, he said.
The CPB general secretary also noted that adulterated food is posing a serious threat to public health, adding that the government is not taking necessary steps.
The meeting was also addressed by SPB general secretary Khaliquzzaman and its central leader Bazlur Rashid Firoz.
