Wednesday, 3 February 2010
The government has finalised the MPO (monthly payment order) policy for the country's non-government educational institutions to streamline the procedure of payout from the public exchequer for hundreds of thousands of teachers and employees working there.
A high-level meeting at the Education Ministry with Minister Nurul Islam Nahid in the chair endorsed Tuesday the MPO policy framed on the basis of a guideline prepared by an expert panel, reports UNB.
Education Secretary Syed Ataur Rahman and Additional Secretary SM Golam Faruk, high officials of law, finance, local government, rural development and cooperatives ministries and Nitai Chandra Sutradhar, director general of the Department of Technical Education were, among others, present at the meeting.
The education minister said, "The committee which was formed to formulate the policy guidelines submitted it to the ministry and on the basis of the policy guidelines MPO would be implemented."
He also announced that applications would be invited "soon" for granting MPO in the light of the new policy guidelines. Forms and details will also be available on the website www.moedu.gov.bd.
The MPO policy aims at removing reported massive irregularities and nepotism in handing out MPO to non-government institutions like schools, colleges and madrasahs often on political considerations.
