Govt for bringing qualitative change in education: Nahid

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid Friday said young generation would be made efficient workforce by providing them with quality education, reports BSS. "The government is working for bringing a qualitative change in the existing education system to make the country progressive and forward looking," he said while addressing the 12th conference of Bangladesh Psychological Association (BPA) at Teacher-Student Centre (TSC) auditorium of Dhaka University. Vice-chancellor of the University Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique was the special guest at the conference with Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the BPA Conference-2011, Prof Muhammad Raushan Ali in the chair. Acting President of BPA Dr Shawkat Ara delivered the address of welcome. Prof Raushan presented the keynote titled "The role of education in human resources development: A psychological analysis" at the conference. The minister said psychologists could play a vital role in bringing qualitative change in education. "Social movement is needed to prevent stalking and the outlook of our boys should be changed towards girls," he said. Nahid called upon the students to come forward to build a prosperous Bangladesh. Prof Siddique said education is the only tool to solve any kind of problem and psychology can play an important role in this regard.
