Govt for effective steps on C’wealth citizens’ better future

Foreign Minister (FM) AH Mahmood Ali sought effective steps from the Commonwealth to address global issues and ultimately facilitate the lives of Commonwealth citizens for a better future, reports UNB.
He said this when visiting Commonwealth Secretary General Kamalesh Sharma met him at his office at the Foreign Ministry in the city on Saturday.
The Commonwealth Secretary General, now on a three-day visit, briefed the FM on the forthcoming Commonwealth Heads of Governments meeting (CHOGM) to be held this year. The Secretary General, who is leading a three-member delegation, thanked the Foreign Minister and appreciated the important role played by Bangladesh in the Commonwealth and its different bodies.
The FM welcomed the Secretary General on his third visit to Bangladesh and discussed various Commonwealth cooperative projects exist in Bangladesh.
He said the Commonwealth of Nations as a global organisation covering all the continents with a wide diversity in fostering and promoting common and fundamental Commonwealth values and principles.
MrAli mentioned, 'The Commonwealth - Adding Global Value', is a pertinent and timely theme for CHOGM-2015, which should highlight major impact that the Commonwealth can have significantly, and constructively to influence international politics.
