Govt forms advisory panel with representatives from trade bodies

The government has formed an advisory committee with the representation of different trade bodies to promote the country's businesses.
The 25- member committee in the private sector will give suggestions to the commerce minister for promoting country's trade, commerce and investment.
The government, after formation of the committee, issued a circular on March 9, 2014.  
Meanwhile, the businessmen of the country welcomed Wednesday the decision to form an advisory committee to assist the government for promoting businesses.
They said that it will definitely give scope to the entrepreneurs to exchange their views directly with the government.
The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) hailed the government decision on the formation of the advisory committee that will help boost the country's businesses.
"Definitely it is a good initiative by the government. The committee will give the businessmen an opportunity to give their suggestions to the government," President of the FBCCI Kazi Akram Uddin Ahmed who is the member of the advisory committee told the FE.
The Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) hailed the government decision on the formation of the advisory committee.
President of the DCCI said in a free market economy the government and the businessmen work together for the promotion of businesses.
 "We welcome the government decision on the formation of the advisory committee.  It will help us interact with the government in promoting country's businesses," DCCI President Md Shahajan Khan another member of the committee told the FE.
"After the formation of the committee we will be able to give our suggestions to the government," he said.   
The head of the country's exporters association thanked the commerce minister Tofail Ahmed for his efforts to form the advisory committee.  
 "It is a positive sign that will create a new horizon for promoting country's businesses," President of the Exporters Association of Bangladesh Addus Salam Murshedy, who is also a member of the committee told the FE.
He said the committee along with the government would be able to work to boost the country's trade, commerce and investment.
He said the advisory committee will help the government a lot in framing business policy.
The commerce minister will sit with the members of the committee soon to discuss country's businesses and investment.
The other members of the committee are president of Bangladesh Association of Pharmaceutical Industries Salman F Rahman,  chairman of Apex Group Syed Manzur Elahi,  managing director of Mir Group Mir Nasir Hossain,  chairman of Mohammadi Group Annisul Huq, president of Bangladesh Chamber of Industry AK Azad,  president of International Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Bangladesh (ICC,B) Mahbubur Rahman,  president of Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry Rokia Afzal Rahman,  president of Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mahbubul Alam,  president of American Chamber of Commerce in Bangladesh (AmCham), president of Bangladesh Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry Begum Sangita Ahmed,  president of Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) AKM Salim Osman,  president of Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMEA) Jahangir Alamin, president of Bangladesh Frozen Food Exporters Association Md Aminullah, president of Bangladesh Plastic Goods Manufacturers and Exporters Association, chairman of Bangladesh Terry Towel and Lilen Manufacturers and Exporters Association Khandkar Abdul Muktadir, president of Bangladesh Employers Federation Tapan Chowdhury, chairman of City Group of Industries Fazlur Rahman,  president of Foreign Investors Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) Rupali Chowdhury, chairman of Meghna Group of Industries Mostofa Kamal and chairman of Abul Khair Group Abul Kashem.
