Govt gives top priority to education: PM

Sunday, 18 May 2014

Prime Minister (PM) Sheikh Hasina said Saturday her government gave top priority to education to build an educated nation as no country could achieve desired development without education, reports UNB.
"It's not possible to build a hunger and poverty free nation without establishing an educated nation," she said.
The PM was speaking after receiving the results of the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and its equivalent examinations from Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid at her official residence Ganobhaban. The examinations were held under the country's 10 education boards.
Sheikh Hasina said the main goal of her government was to uplift the country's socio-economic condition through ensuring the basic rights of people.
She also said her government wanted to ensure a better living place for the new generation.
Referring to destructive activities of the BNP-led alliance for a couple of months at the end of 2013, the PM said it was not so easy to send textbooks and educational materials to the students as well as taking their examinations at that time.
Sheikh Hasina said the government had restored discipline in the education sector as now not a single day of the students was wasted for publishing their results.
Sheikh Hasina congratulated all concerned, including the officials of the ministry of education, education boards and teachers of the educational institutions for their all-out cooperation in completing and publishing the results of the examinations in time.
