Govt giving top priority to health service to the poor: Health Minister

Health Minister Dr AFM Ruhul Haque Monday said that the government was giving top priority to ensure health services to the poor and marginal communities as it was not possible to provide free healthcare for 15 crore population, reports BSS.

The health minister said this when Dutch Ambassador in Bangladesh Bea ten Tusscher called on him at his secretariat office in the city.

Dr Haque also mentioned to run the activities of the community clinics effectively which were built during the past Awami League (AL) government to ensure health services to the poor and marginal communities.

Recalling the Netherland's support to both government and private programmes in Bangladesh's health sector, the health minister expressed the hope that the fields of such cooperation would be expanded further.

Dr Haque also said the government was pledge-bound to ensure transparency and accountability in the health sector by removing all irregularities and corruption took place during the past four-party alliance government.

The Dutch envoy assured that her country would continue assistance in Bangladesh's health sector.
