FE Report
City development authority will stop non-registered private land developers and real estate firms from developing plots and building flats in a move to clean up mess in urban development, the head of RAJUK said.
Engr. Md Nurul Huda, chairman of Rajdhani Unnayan Kartipakkha (RAJUK) said that registration of land and real estate developers was made mandatory and no "fly-by-night" private companies will be allowed to do housing business from the next month.
RAJUK said out of 728 members of Real Estate Housing Association of Bangladesh (REHAB), only nine have so far applied for registration in prescribed forms just ahead of June 30 deadline.
Officials said more than 1,500 other private land developers and realtors are also involved in land development and apartment construction, although they are neither members of REHAB and nor affiliated with the RAJUK.
The capital development authority has asked private land developers and real estate companies to get enlisted with it as per the Dhaka Metropolitan Building (construction, development, preservation and removal) Rules, 2008.
The RAJUK boss noted that real estate companies and other private land developers, who are still out of RAJUK enlistment, would not get any approval from now on for making plots and constructing apartments in the metropolitan area.
