The present government has established highly fruitful diplomatic relationships with the international community to help increase inflow of foreign direct investment (FDI) in the coming years, Mashiur Rahman, Advisor for Economic Affairs to the Prime Minister said.
He also underscored the need for infrastructure and technology development in the country to boost FDI.
"FDI does not bring economic prosperity to any country if the political situation is not calm," Mashiur Rahman said.
He made these comments while speaking as the chief guest at a seminar on "FDI and Reflections from World Investment Report 2010" held in the city Thursday.
Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB) organised the seminar which was presided over by MA Bari, a former president of ICAB.
Jamal Uddin Ahmed, president of ICAB, said that FDI has been playing a key role in strengthening the economy of Bangladesh for the last 15 years.
